Sen Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu: THE BIGGEST SURPRISE OF THE 8TH SENATE. There is a saying among the Igbos mostly of Anambra extraction which says that " Enenia nwa ite, ogbonyuo oku, this literally means that if you underestimate a small pot, it will cause stir and quench the fire. This is the summary of the phenomenal Senator fondly called, Samdaddy by his teeming admirers. Prior to the 2015 general elections and even during the electioneering I was in Imo state so I have first hand information and experience of what it means to run for an elective positions in the state. Imo state politics I would say is the most advanced and dynamic amongst all the states of the federation and so therefore, not usually open for political neophytes and inexperienced. During one of those campaign period I met Samdaddy who was then house of Assembly member in imo state and I was told that he was running for an election to represent the people of Owerri at the red Chamber of the National Assembly. I felt some compassion for him because I concluded in my small mind that he stands no chance in the election because of the calibre of people he was contesting against. Time proved me completely wrong as Sen Samdaddy thrashed all the political goliaths and came out victorious. I became curiously curious

During the process of electing the Senate President, one would have thought that as a first timer in the Senate that Samdaddy would be swallowed by the so called ranking Senators, alas he played a major and significant role in the emergence of Sen Bukola Saraki as the Senate President so I was not surprised when he was appointed to chair a committee in the Senate

My fear and surprise his appointment into ETHICS , PRIVILEGES AND PETITIONS committee. I thought in my heart that this appointment was a bobbytrap that is orchestrated by his political opponents to ensure his downfall. How can they burden a first timer with office with such a big responsibility. Indeed I was wrong again. Because his his appointment into that office this young man has refused to look back and has taken on every duty given to him with wisdom and tact.
