*Two senior Gambian Army officers have fled the country, amid an unsettled political stalemate threatening the stability of the impoverished West African nation. The two officers, who jumped ship are: Colonel Sait Njie, and Navy Captain Adama Trawalleh. The duo left Banjul, few hours ago. They have arrived in Senegal, sources said.

*Colonel Sait Njie, was among the officers recently promoted by dictator Yahya Jammeh. He refused to be part of Jammeh’s vicious plots to subvert the electoral victory of President elect Adama Barrow. Hence, he decided to leave town.

*Also, fleeing is Captain Adama Trawalleh of The Gambia Navy. Mr. Tawalleh, has decided to flee the country. Both men are outstanding officers of The Gambia Armed Forces.
In the meanwhile, Jammeh is heading a divided army. Some soldiers and officers said they will pledge their allegiance to President elect Adama Barrow, on January, 19th, while a sizeable number of soldiers are still loyal to the outgoing dictator.
