SENATOR HOPE UZODINMA AND THE BURDEN OF PHILANTHROPISM.

Philanthropy is determined as a very generous person with benevolent altruism. It is described as a person who loves mankind in a total sense, and with the intention of increasing the well-being of mankind, especially by charitable giving, assistance and Empowerment.

In all of the above definitions, Dist. Sen. Hope Odidika Uzodinma (Onwa-Oyoko), has religiously proved beyond all reasonable doubts that he remains in Imo State as at today and rare in Nigeria, the true Numero Uno in Philanthropy.

About a month ago, precisely on the 20th day of August 2017, the Distinguished Senator Representing Imo West Senatorial District (Orlu zone) in his regular quest for rendering service to God and humanity went into partnership with the authorities of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), through their Center for Technical Vocational Education, Training and Research (CETVETAR) an in conjunction with UNESC-UNEVOC, on a five (5) day National Economic Recovery Training Programme (NERTP), alongside Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, National Directorate of Employment, Bank of Industry, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, Bank of Agriculture, Nigeria Investment Promotion Council and Raw Materials Research and Development Council, to train a total number of Three Hundred (300) Youths from the 12 Local Government Areas of Orlu zone.

The training which spanned for 5 consecutive and fruitful days took place at the Auditorium of Cyprain Ekwensi Arts and Cultural Center, Area 10, Garki, Abuja, imparted various degrees of Technical knowledge in the participants on different fields of Human enterprise including: Computer Technology, Paint making, Textiles Production, Food Processing, Animal Feed Production, Cosmetology, Small Scale businesses, et all.

The Resource Persons were drawn from various sectors of the economy whose Technical Skills were comprehensively deposited in the trainees who enthusiastically enjoyed all aspects of the week long event.

Though, a very cost intensive programme, the Most Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma was able to shoulder the burden and the entire costs, whence he hired (5) five Luxurious Buses from Chisco Transport Company Limited to convey all the participants from his Constituency office, Orlu to Abuja (to and fro).

He equally underwrote the daily costs of the Buses hired also from Abuja Municipal Transit System, from the participants' Hotel locations at Kubwa, Abuja to the Cyprain Ekwensi Center, Area 10, Garki, Abuja for the 5 training days.

Sen. Hope Uzodinma, also fully booked and paid for all the Hotel rooms that accommodated all the participants (excluding very negligible few persons that opted to stay with their family/relations in Abuja).

In addition to all these, the Senator paid for their transit Lunch of N1,000 to each and every participant to and fro Abuja. He also paid for their daily feeding for the 6 (six) days spent at Abuja (Monday to Saturday).

It is worthy of note that all the participants were nominated and drawn from all concerned segments in Orlu zone (Imo West Senatorial District) including: The Catholic Diocese of Orlu, The Anglican Dioceses in Orlu zone, other Churches in Orlu zone and the PDP political structure.

Very Soon, and I mean, very very soon, the Most Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma-Onwa-Oyoko shall engage in an awesome empowerment programme for the successful participants.

Distinguish Senator Hope Uzodinma, takes joy in seeing the happiness of others including the haves and the have nots. It is worthy of note that the above mentioned programme was a National event, opened to all Legislators and even the State Executive members, as well as the high net-worth individuals, but only Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma and one other member from the National Assembly was able to finance and sponsor their constituents to the training. No thanks to the cost intensive nature of sponsoring the trainees, which the Senator spent some reasonable Millions of Naira under this austere and recessive Economy.

Certificate of Training were issued to all the nominees / participants.

Most Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma (Onwa-Oyoko) is certainly a rare Gem in shouldering the burden of Philanthropism, whence God has continued to bless him as well as enriching his coast always.
