The State has been made to understand that the exercise is part of Army social responsibility to members of the public. However, strong apprehension among the populace has followed the exercise leading to withdrawal of students from schools by parents, misconception of the actual motive behind the exercise by stakeholders, community leaders and a general reservation by the public for whom the outreach is intended. Police Commission confirms Senator Misau’s retirement letter. The Police Service Commission (PSC), on Wednesday, confirmed the retirement letter of Sen. Isah Misau, Chairman Senate Committee on Navy, to be authentic. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Nigeria Police Force on Aug. 27 declared Misau a deserter and accused him of carrying a forged retirement letter. NAN also recalls that Misau was invited by the commission to appear before its Special Panel investigating the genuineness or otherwise of the two letters of retirement emanating from the commission. APC KICK-STARTS PROCESS FOR NATIONAL CONVENTION The National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will hold not later than April 2017. This was one of outcomes of the National Working Committee (NWC) meeting which held this week at the Party’s National Secretariat in Abuja. The meeting was chaired by the APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun. The processes leading to the National Convention will commence with the Congress to fill vacancies in the State Party structures across the country. The vacancies to be filled occurred principally from political appointments, deaths and resignations. The Congress to fill the vacancies would be followed closely by another Congress to nominate delegates into the mid-term non-elective Convention of the Party. The Congresses will be followed by the National Caucus meeting, and finalised with the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Party, which will consider and set the dates for the National Conve...
